Making it Modern!

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while but I would like to ask a favor!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I recently entered a Social Space Makeover Contest over at the blog Making It Lovely. I submitted both my living room & ORIGINAL 50's kitchen... out of over 250 entries only 10 were selected. OUR kitchen was selected as a finalist... so exciting!!! The prize is 150,000 AmEx points to use as I see fit (I.E- I can actually get a dishwasher FINALLY!) But I need your help!!!

With the baby just starting to walk, I have been contemplating how to better utilize the floor plan in our 50's split level house. Currently there is a lot of wasted space in the living room/dining room area. So...voila! This is my first mood board, and my take on a possible mid-century inspired solution for the room!

Fly Your Flag

These banners & flags are awesome! One of them from Z Gallerie is over $300 though!!! Since I am a fan of typography & hand lettering, I have been contemplating buying some canvas and making my own! The plan is to use street names & towns from where my husband and I grew up! He thinks I am nuts, but I think it will be great! Now I just need to find some time & motivation!
